Clerkenwell Design Week – Street Art Extravaganza – for Milliken.

It’s Clerkenwell Design Week 2016, so what better way could Paint Jam London do it’s thing than by creating a STREET ART EXTRAVAGANA – for our Design client Milliken. Featuring 5 top street artists, a DJ playing 80′s hip hop music, a spray painting workshop, and 2 talks with headlining artists Ben Eine and  Jimmy C – this live painting night is going to be epic.

Milliken is a Global flooring Design company with a London showroom in Clerkenwell’s Design district. Milliken designers were inspired by Street art in their latest ‘Artistic Liberties’ flooring collection, and so wanted their Design week event 2016 to celebrate Street Art. Paint Jam London was given the Milliken brief to ‘bring the Shoreditch Street into the Milliken studio’  - we said ‘OK!’

The line up of street artists painting live at this event make it one not to miss…

BEN EINE          JIMMY C             DAN KITCHENER         ARTISTA             ANNATOMIX

Ben Eine,  Headlining artist

Eine is a super famous letter writer who is  inspired by old sign writing – his letters can be seen on shop shutters and walls across East London and beyond. A London born artist who moved from graffiti tagging to street art – what he sees as ugly marks to beautifying images on the streets, Eine has also worked closely with the illusive Banksy as well as having his art hanging in the White House… so don’t miss his talk with Q&A (25th May, 7.20pm) or his Stencil & Spray painting workshop (26th May, 3-6pm). Ben Eine’s original ‘MILLIKEN’ art work,  created especially for Clerkenwell Design Week 2016, can be seen on all Milliken brochures…the original art work is framed in their Berry Street London showroom.

Jimmy C,  Headlining artist

.. aka James Cochran is most recently famed for his David Bowie piece in Brixton, but his vibrant and colourful murals can also be seen all across E.London and the world. Painting in his special ‘aerosol pointillism’ style – where impressionism meets the spray can – Jimmy C, who is originally from Australia, is famous for his female faces and floating metaphysical circles. Jimmy C will also be doing a talk plus a Q&A at this event (25th May, 7pm).  You can find out more about Jimmy C here

aka Dan Kitchener will be painting one of his vibrant street scenes at this Design Week event. Dank’s arresting and vibrant style has attracted many over the years – including Paul McCartney, Lenny Kravitz, Kylie & the Prodigy. He pends his time travelling around the world painting his iconic street scenes and geisha  images, on bigger and bigger walls – including  a 12 storey high building - one of his largest yet.   You can find out more about DanK here

Artista Southbank

aka Kayleigh Doughty, is known widely for her retro 80′s graffiti bubble style. Her vibrant and playful pieces can be seen on streets across London and beyond – with her exciting painting campaigns including ‘Just bloom’ and the ‘Toast Rampage’. Artista’s work has even been showcased inside the walls of Europe’s most visited gallery – The Tate Modern. She continues to work bigger – and has done some impressive large murals including a 40 foot high building. Artista will be live painting a toast on a flying carpet for this Design Week event – inspired by Milliken flooring – she will also be leading a Letter Spray painting workshop alongside Ben Eine (26th May, 3-6pm).  Artista is also running Spray painting workshops on Paint Jam London’s public workshop schedule. You can find out more about Artista  here

Annatomix is a self- trained artist – she creates modernist, abstract works inspired by life and death, evolution, time and space, sound, philosophy, theology, mathematics and science fiction. Previously a musician, sound engineer and DJ – doing occasional illustration work – Annatomix decided to make art her full time endeavour in 2010. Following a lifelong love of art and graffiti, she started out with simple, handmade posters and has spent the last 5 years developing her style and narrative, both on and off street walls, culminating in her first solo show in London in February 2015.  Annatomix has gained particular notoriety for her 3D, polygonal animals – she will be painting one of her iconic Urban foxes at this design week event. You can find out more about Annatomix here

This Design Week ‘Street Art Extravaganza’ event has been fully curated by Paint Jam London – for Milliken.

All art works live painted by artists at this event will be on sale via the Paint Jam London gallery after the event.
