All about Hockney! Hockney Paint Jam is a series of immersive art-studio events - celebrating our love of the late and great British artist, David Hockney.

Paint Jam studios is hosting artist live-paints, participatory painting workshops + Hockney film projections - for everyone! Hockney Paint Jam events begin at Creative Mile Brentford (4th-6th Sept 26)

RESERVE YOUR FREE PLACE (donations welcome). Cretaive Mile is an impressive Art Trail of Brentford with over 100 contributors across the borough. The 2026 Creative Mile theme is 'Love'. This year Creative Mile is in a special collaboration with the National gallery - with an incredible 'Art on Your Doorstep' program, where large replicas of some of the National gallery paintings will be installed across Brentford - bringing art out of the gallery environment for everyone to see.

David Hockney was a Yorkshire born artist who first became known as one of the top British artists of the Pop Art movement, and later held as  one of the most influential British painters of all time. Moving to LA in the 1960's, Hockney became facinated with LA swimming pools and interiors where he created iconic paintings such as 'A bigger splash'. David Hockney always spent long stretches of time back in the UK and his Yorkshire family home, creating breath-taking seasonal landscape paintings of Yorkshire countryside, as well as a large range of portraits, and his famous ipad paintings. We were lucky to have had David Hockney's last living exhibition @Serpentine gallery - David Hockney: A year in Normandie and Some other Thoughts about Painting. which ended this week. David Hockney passed away during the show run.

Although David Hockney's work was originally considered pop art, his expressive and loose brush strokes evoke the impressionist appreciateion of movement, light and gesture, making his unique colourful expressive style.  We have been teaching David Hockney's drawing and painting techniques to Paint Jam workshop groups in the studio for the last fifteen years and are massive fans of the artist and his artworks.                The Hockney style has been popular with our public Paint Jam event clients, aswell as our Paint Jam corporate and team building clients including Sky, King, Intrepid and Penguin Random House. Hockney styled Paint Jam's are also popular with our hen groups and community Paint Jam workshops.

PART 1: HOCKNEY ARTIST LIVE-PAINT + participatory painting workshop as part of Creative Mile Brentford (Fri 4th - Sun 6th September 2026) Paint Jam artists recreate 5 of our favourite large-scale DAVID HOCKNEY PAINTINGS - in a big live-paint. We invite you to watch artists Dalia Zermon (moi/ Paint Jam founder), Chico Andrew Stockwell, Gurveer Padhal and Sarah Smits, paint mural-size canvases - with visitor participation welcome on selected pieces (book workshop slot). See Hockney's 'A Bigger Splash', his Grand Canion masterpiece and his sublime Yorkshire countryside paintings being painted live. Hockney Paint Jam @Creative Mile is happening at the Paint Jam studio at XYZ Brentford, our lovely river-side studio. These paintings will be exhibited and auctioned as part of our alternative Frieze London events, where Hockney Paint Jam continues. Money raised from the sale of the Hockney recreations, will be donated to the young person's mental health charity BEYOND.

XYZ Brentford will also be hosting a range of onsite exhibtiions and events in the large building for Creative Mile - some of my paintings (Dalia Zermon) will be in a group 'Summer exhibition' style art exhibition on the main floor + visit a fortune teller station and our show stopping Art Supermarket 'Gem Spa', created by brilliant artist Michael speechley - selling a selection of Outsider Art at affordable prices.

Exploring David hockney's al-fresco drawing and painting, his approach to light and his iconic suggestive mark-making and brush-strokes.
